Adolescent Back Pain at School

A new study found that “the prevalence of low back pain in the last year was 57% among (12 -15 year old) participants, with no significant difference between the sexes.” Researchers note that those students who were older and larger (greater body mass) were more likely to experience back pain. “Remaining seated at school in usual days was considered one of the main activities that trigger symptoms that lasted up to seven days for the majority (80%) of adolescents.”

The adolescent years are very important in the development of your child’s spine. Make sure your children get the exercise they need to maintain a healthy spine along with regular chiropractic checkups.
